In beauty trends, some things look interesting only to look at, and there are some which naturally make you want to try them yourself.
Jelly Pedicure was also such a trend for me. Especially in videos where the feet are soaked, moving in a colorful jelly mixture, the most noticeable part of it is its texture, which is completely different from normal water.
What is jelly pedicure?
This is a type of spa-style pedicure in which water is turned into a jelly mixture; for this, the salon adds jelly powder or crystals to warm water.
After that you soak your feet in the jelly mixture according to the salon treatment; the salon also includes pedicure steps like nail cleaning, shaping and moisturizing.
What I found most interesting about this trend is that the final result doesn’t just focus on the nail look: the texture itself quickly becomes a noticeable part of the pedicure experience.
Why I noticed the jelly pedicure trend
Normally when we think of pedicure, warm water scrub, nail shaping and polish come to mind, but jelly pedicure follows this familiar routine a little differently.
Its visual aspect is also quite noticeable on social media. The video of soaking in clear or colorful jelly looks satisfying, hence it creates more attention in comparison to a normal pedicure.
Its attraction for me was not that it would be an expensive or complicated treatment; I just wanted to understand whether something that looked so interesting in the video could actually happen.
How to do jelly pedicure?
First of all, after cleaning the feet, the salon prepares warm water, adds the product quickly to this water according to the product’s instructions, then mixes the mixture for some time.
The squishy texture feels completely different from normal water. Depending on your pedicure package — nail trimming, shaping, cuticle care, exfoliation & massage — it is a good idea to ask before booking what exactly is included in the jelly pedicure package.
Why is jelly pedicure trending?
In my opinion, the most obvious aspect of this trend is its experience. People have not seen the final results. The experience of treatment has also become a part of social media content.
The texture of jelly pedicure is easily noticeable by the camera. Colorful jelly feet and the pedicure process usually seem interesting in short videos; that is why it easily attracts attention in beauty content.
Is it just a trend?
I also had this question naturally. It would not be right to consider pedicure only as a social media trend and it is not necessary to consider it as any special foot treatment. Basically, it is a different type of pedicure experience.
If you like normal pedicure and want to try something new, then it can get interesting quickly, but if you just want to get basic nail care done, then normal pedicure can also be a part of your routine.
I thought the appeal in this trend is the different texture, aesthetic look and unique experience.
What to check before jelly pedicure?
Before booking an appointment directly by following a trend, I would like to check some basic things.
First of all, check the cleanliness of the pedicure tools. Pedicure tools should be properly clean. General hygiene and cleanliness of the tools should not be ignored for feet and nail services.
The second thing is the product. You can ask the salon for the jelly pedicure product name and how it is prepared.
The third thing is the package. Don’t assume that a complete pedicure will be included just by looking at the name of the pedicure. Some places may have a quick add-on while some offer it as a part of the complete services.
Can it be done at home?
Yes, for a quick pedicure, it is important to follow the product instructions. Quick products are normal. Food jelly is not the same, so doing it at home with random powder or kitchen ingredients does not seem like a sensible option to me.
If we use a kit, then it is better to follow the water quantity, soaking time and instructions given on the packaging.
What to think before trying jelly pedicure?
For me, the answer depends on what you expect from a pedicure.
If you like trying new beauty trends, enjoy the salon experience, and want to make a normal pedicure a little different, then a jelly pedicure can be an interesting option.
But if you just want to get your nails cleaned and polished, then this is not a necessary step.
I found the most interesting part of the jelly pedicure to be its soft texture. It makes a simple pedicure routine visually and experientially different.
