Beauty products are a part of everyone’s daily routine, sometimes we like our sister’s lipstick shade, sometimes we feel like trying our friend’s mascara and sometimes we also want to do the same by giving her our favorite makeup product.
Earlier, I also sometimes used to share my beauty products with others but I used to think that if the product is fine and the person in front is also clean then there is no problem in sharing.
But with time I understood that it is not good to share every beauty product; there are some products which directly come in contact with the scalp, lips and eyes, and those products I avoid sharing.
Lipstick and Lip Products
Lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, lip tint and lip liner are among the products we avoid sharing.
The reason is simple, these products come in direct contact with the lips.
Earlier I used to think that lipstick can be wiped with a tissue but now I do not do so.
If a friend likes my shade, instead of applying the lipstick directly on their lips, I use an applicator or disposable tool.
Mascara
Mascara is one of the most important products in my list.
The mascara’s applicator is very close to the eyes and then the same wand goes inside the product again.
That’s why I don’t share my mascara. If someone wants to borrow my makeup, I simply say no.
For me it is a personal product.
Eyeliner
Liquid Eyeliner and Pencil Eyeliner, I do not share with anyone. In liquid eyeliner, the applicator goes near the eyes. In pencil eyeliner, the eye area directly comes in contact, so usually I keep eyeliner in my personal list and do not share it.
Kajal
I avoid sharing it personally. Kajal is applied in the eyes or near the lash line, hence I do not find it comfortable for multiple people to use the same kajal. If the kajal is pencil type then it is possible to sharpen it, but still I do not find it comfortable to share.
Makeup Brushes
Earlier I used to think that brushes can be easily shared but makeup brushes are directly used on the face, foundation, blush, powder and eye shadow brushes repeatedly come in contact with the skin.
Now instead of sharing my brushes with anyone else, I think it is better to keep a separate brush. If ever I have to do it as a makeup artist, then proper cleaning and hygiene is important for me.
Beauty Sponges
Beauty sponge is also on my Do Not Share list.
To apply foundation and concealer, the sponge is pressed directly on the face. I think it is better to give someone their own separate clean sponge instead of sharing.
Face Rollers & Gua Sha
Face Roller and Gua Sha have become a popular part of the skincare routine these days and the products are not usually shared.
They are moved directly on the face and come in very close contact with the skin. If anyone wants to use my roller or gua sha, then I will probably clean it properly, but in general, personal skincare tools should be kept personal.
Face Towels
I think we dry our face with a towel after face wash, hence I keep my face towel separate, especially if there are multiple people in the house. It can be a simple hygiene habit.
Makeup Puffs and Powder Puffs
I also don’t share the puffs that come with compact powder and loose powder. The puff is applied directly on the face. If I have to give my puff to someone, I prefer to give a clean applicator rather than sharing my personal one.
Hair Brushes & Combs
Beauty sharing is not limited to makeup only. Hair brushes and combs also come among personal items which should not normally be shared.
We use them directly on hair and scalp, hence my comb and hair brush are a part of my personal beauty kit. If someone needs one urgently, then I prefer to give them a separate one.
Roll-On Deodorant
I also don’t casually share roll-on deodorant. Its roller comes in direct underarm contact and then goes back into the product’s container. If I have to give it to someone I find a spray type product more practical for sharing.
Why I prefer keeping these things personal
For me, not sharing beauty products is not about being rude, it is just my personal hygiene habit, it is not a rule to share every product, some products can be shared because of the packaging, while some products come in direct contact with the skin or body.
That’s why I follow a simple rule: keep products that come in direct contact with the body personal. If anyone ever wants to try my makeup, I try to do it with a disposable applicator or a clean tool.
